Fiona Cassidy set for Creative Writing Residency at An Creagån

Writing a book is top of many people's wish list. But it doesn't just happen - we need to create the time and space to do it. Getting away from the demands of everyday life can help us to focus, which is where An Creagán comes in. It offers a peaceful retreat which can bring about the right climate for inspiration to flow.

Best Selling Author Fiona  Cassidy will be taking up residence at An Creagn for the week commencing 23rd January to offer a series of creativing writing workshops for adults. Fiona will also be offering a number of one-to-one mentoring sessions for those already confident in creative writing, and will deliver a unique creative writing day for young writers age 12-16.  Funded by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the author in residence is part of An Creagan’s ongoing arts programme.

Fiona Cassidy is a contemporary women’s fiction writer and bestselling author of Anyone for Seconds? and Anyone for Me? She is published by Poolbeg Press in Dublin, the same publishers who discovered the talents of Marian Keyes, Patricia Scanlan and Cathy Kelly to name but a few. Her third and final book in the ‘Anyone’ trilogy is due for release in September 2012. Fiona has also written for children and provided articles for both the Irish Independent as well as the Belfast Telegraph. Fiona, who is more commonly known as Fionnuala McGoldrick, is from Galbally and when she’s not penning her own novels she enjoys helping others to explore the art of writing.

Guided by Fiona’s expertise class participants will explore all aspects of creative writing and develop their skills. Fiona also has extensive knowledge of the publishing industry and will provide advice and support for those wishing to see their own work in print

Fiona will endeavour to help those interested in writing regardless of their experience or reasons for attending classes. She welcomes seasoned writers as well as beginners from all ages and backgrounds!
