You are in > Education Programme > Summer Scheme

We have been conducting summer scheme activities at the centre for the past three years and these always attract great numbers of children. Activities cater for children between the ages of 5 and 11 and are suitable for all activities. Details of activities are below but these are subject to change.

Summer Scheme 08
Costing: from £3 - £5 per pupil, depending on activity.
Pond Dipping
The group can hunt for newts, dragonfly larvae, diving beetles and other pond creatures. These are then identified using large, easy to use keys under the guidance of our Education guides. All equipment supplied but wet gear and wellies are essential.

Activity Based Learning Games
We at An Creagan bring the children together in a fun, positive and meaningful way, using a variety of unique adventure games, initiative tasks, trust activities and competitive games. We can guarantee, the groups will absolutely love them and will be crying out for more.

Textiles and Craft Activities
Why not let children discover their creative side with activities such as felt making, print making, sock puppet, jewellery making and nature weaves. Watch as the creative masterpieces take shape and puppets come to life!

Treasure Hunts
Okay, admit it you loved treasure hunts when you were little. We all did. Solving clues, cracking codes, charting your path etc. Our Treasure Hunts are a great way for children to interact and add that element of fun that all children simply love.

Picture Frames

Children will try their hand at this basic carpentry workshop which will see them produce their own wooden picture frames which will be beautifully decorated and ready to hang.

Paint N Play

We have combined two all time kids favourites for this visit. During the painting section children will experiment with a variety of methods including, mixing, printing and marbling. Children will also enjoy several outdoor games and a scavenger hunt weather permitting!

Jewellery Making

This activity allows children the opportunity to design and make their own colourful jewellery using a combination of methods and materials.

Clay Pots & Tile Making

Children will use clay to create a coiled pot and personalised tile. Clay used for this activity does not need to be fired.
