Calling for Green Fingered Volunteers!
Now that the new year is beginning to get old, by now you might have given up on some of the new hobbies or the healthy lifestyle that you started with the best of intentions. Or maybe that’s just me… but how about getting involved in something that keeps you active and healthy right through the year. At An Creagán we are taking the first steps to creating a brand new community wildlife garden and we need volunteers to help us along the way. We aim to bring together like-minded people of all ages, with the aim of creating a wildlife friendly, fruit vegetable and flower garden in the grounds of An Creagán centre. Using environmentally friendly, traditional techniques and materials we will create beds for soft fruit, vegetables, shrubs and perennials. We will fill planters with enough colour and scent to keep the bees happy for the year and install homes and habitats for the birds, bugs and beasties that keep a garden ecosystem in balance. Within just a few months you could be harvesting the fruits of your labour!
We are asking for volunteers to come along and help us out, whether you are a seasoned pro or are just showing the green shoots of becoming a gardener, it doesn’t matter. We will meet at An Creagan every Tuesday morning and you can stay for as long or as short a time as suits you. Our own staff will be on hand all day to give advice and support and all the tools, plants and materials will be provided on site.
