Healthy Heart, Healthy Mind project is a five year funded project, support through BIG lottery, reaching communities programme.
This project aims to develop physical, mental health and overall well being, through the provision of activities such as walking, cycling, gardening in the community garden, dance, healthy cooking/eating, story telling, historical tours and traditional crafts.
By providing these services we hope to develop skills, confidence and abilities to encourage participants to enhance their physical, mental health and overall well being by, gradually encouraging outdoor physical activity, through a variety of activities on offer within our stunning rural environment including; walking, cycling, gardening in our community garden as well as encouraging participation in a number of environmental improvement schemes in the local area.
Other activities provided throughout the life of the project are dance, healthy cooking/eating and traditional crafts.
The Projects is open to anyone from the Omagh, Strabane and Cookstown District Council Area’s and targets individuals and groups who are socially and economically disadvantaged, older people, those with disabilities and people recovering from illness.
Participants will also be enabled through active engagement in the development and management of the project. Training will be provided in team building, planning, project management, implementation and evaluation skills, thus improving participation and inclusion.
